We are proud to announce that Quartz Supply UK Ltd has been formally accepted as a member of the Worktop Fabricators Federation (WFF), the UK’s principal trade body for the stone, quartz and porcelain worktop fabrication sector. The accreditation follows a year-long internal review of the company’s health and safety practices, with particular focus on managing exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS).
Why This Matters for the Industry
RCS exposure has become one of the most pressing safety concerns in worktop fabrication, linked to serious long-term conditions such as silicosis and lung disease. Regulatory bodies, including the HSE, have sharpened their guidance on controlling silica dust risks, putting pressure on fabricators nationwide to modernise their safety protocols.
WFF membership is not automatic. Accredited businesses must demonstrate robust, verifiable safety systems rather than minimum compliance, making it a meaningful benchmark for clients and industry peers assessing a fabricator’s standards.
What Changed at Quartz Supply
Ahead of accreditation, we overhauled several areas of its operation, including:
- Detailed risk assessments and method statements for all engineered stone work
- Face-fit testing to ensure respiratory protective equipment performs as required
- Updated machinery procedures designed to reduce dust generation at source
- Strengthened safe systems of work across the fabrication floor

The company’s Director framed the accreditation as a continuation of an ongoing effort rather than an end point: “Every person who walks through our doors should go home safely to their family at the end of the day. This membership reflects real changes we’ve made, not just a certificate on the wall.”
Looking Ahead
Quartz Supply says it intends to use its new WFF membership to collaborate with other accredited fabricators on shared safety practices, as regulatory scrutiny of silica exposure continues to increase across the sector.
